Benazir Bhutto was a far left socialist and (as most socialist are) was corrupt as they came. Her fight for democracy was actually a smoke-screen for pushing Pakistan to communism.
She (and her husband) were corrupt as they came. She stole BILLIONS of dollars from Pakistan. She had to flee Pakistan to escape corruption charges. Now, these accusations could be written off as political attacks except that Switzerland acknowledges (and convicted her of) money laundering through Swiss banks AND Poland admits:
"...that Benazir and her husband got $2 million in kickbacks for the purchase of 8,000 tractors in a 1997 deal. These were illegal commissions paid by the tractor company in return for agreeing to their contract."
There's much more evil to this woman than this but you won't see it mentioned in the "BOO HOO" fest that the media outlets are having.
Born Again Redneck has a good post on her.
The world is a better place without her.

DVDTracker over at the AR-15 forums posts this:
Took the wife there today to see I am Legend and I saw a 30.06 sign posted on the box office. The wording was correct but it did not appear to be large enough. Regardless, I'm sending them this e-mail later today and will be CCing all their locations.
I've been a fan of Alamo Draft House since moving here a few years ago. The combination of great food, mainstream and off-beat movies makes it my first choice when picking a theater. However, my recent trip to the Lake Creek location made me feel like an unwelcome customer.
As I was purchasing tickets, I saw a Texas Penal Code 30.06 sign on the box office which states, "PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.06, PENAL CODE (TRESPASS BY HOLDER OF A LICENSE TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN) A PERSON LICENSED UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411, GOVERNMENT CODE (CONCEALED HANDGUN LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN." I was actually a bit insulted to see this. Getting a concealed handgun license involves fingerprinting, background checks and a mandatory ten-hour training class with a licensed instructor. It's extremely rare for a licensee to ever need to use their handgun. It's also extremely rare to have a licensee convicted of any crime. Police are generally more at-ease if they encounter a licensee during a routine traffic stop. They know that we've done the training, fingerprinting, background checks and have jumped through the hoops to obey the law and we're on their side.
Is disheartening to see such a good business that enjoys the protection of the 1st Amendment by offering a wide variety of movies and entertainment treat those that enjoy the protection of the 2nd as unwelcome customers. If Alamo Draft House truly does not want law-abiding concealed handgun licensees as their customers, then I will take my business elsewhere.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your reply.

Why is it that those in power aren’t asking questions like these:
1. How can the courts be viewed as fair and unbiased when much of their operating income is generated from the fines paid by traffic ticket defendants, isn’t there a fairly obvious conflict of interest here?
2. Where’s the ethical justification for the police to issue hundreds or thousands of tickets to motorists who are driving safely and rationally, but in excess of an arguably dangerous and illegal speed limit?
3. What moral objective is being served by charging ticket recipients more money to prevent “points” being applied to their driving record?
4. What is the logic behind fining a driver $300 for running a red light when a police officer issues a ticket, but only $75 when a camera generates the ticket — is the driver getting a break because it’s a lot cheaper for the camera to take a picture then for the cop to write the ticket?
5. Are we really building a better society by heaping fine upon fine and then suspending licenses because the fines aren’t paid?
6. Does it improve the system’s chances of collecting its fines by taking away the defendants ability to find and hold a job?
7. What police officer wants to be thought of as a bagman for the local government, or have his job dictated by how much money he can raise from motorists?
8. What honest judge wants to work in a court system financially dependent on finding defendants guilty?
The classic image of government-endorsed corruption is the “highwayman” with badge and gun extracting money from a compromised traveler with no hope or relief in sight. In the past these scenes were depicted in the wastelands of Mexico, or in the old “Iron Curtain” countries before the Berlin Wall met its deserved end.

As it turns out, several of the cars used by Bob’s company were in his name. Someone driving one of them got a red light ticket in the spring. He didn’t know about the ticket until the collection showed up on his credit report. He still doesn’t know who was behind the wheel. “Was it an employee that had a ticket in the car that thought they could pay it and didn’t want to tell me about it? I don’t know,” said Bob.
According to Fox 4 News, in the first 11 months of Dallas’s red light camera program, ACS and the city reported 11,073 unpaid citations to credit bureaus.

Guy James, the dog's owner, said he told the landscapers in Spanish to stay in their car until the six dogs, including Congo, were finished eating in the yard, but they didn't. A chaotic scene followed. Elizabeth James went into the yard to try to quell the situation. She said one of the workers hit the dogs with a rake and then Rivera grabbed her.
"This man grabbed me once. I saw Congo jump up. I can't say if he made contact. The second time he grabbed me from behind and we both went down on the grass. He wouldn't let go of my arm and these dogs were going to protect me," said James.
Keep in mind that-
1) The dog was provoked.
2) The man grabbed the wife and caused her to scream.
3) The man was IN THE COMISSION OF SEVERAL CRIMES when the incident occured.

Charges will not be filed against a district court judge who was accused of taking a loaded gun to a Detroit Metropolitan Airport checkpoint this summer.
Washtenaw County prosecutors decided not to charge Sylvia James, chief judge of Inkster's 22nd District Court, because investigators couldn't prove she intentionally took the handgun July 28.
"There is insufficient proof to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Ms. James knowingly possessed the handgun," Konrad Siller, first assistant prosecutor in Washtenaw County, wrote in his Nov. 13 memo to the Wayne County Airport Police. He declined Monday to discuss the issue further.

The cylinder of platinum and iridium used as the standard definition of the weight is known as Le Grand K and kept under lock and key in a vault near Paris.
It was the object that scientists regarded as having a defined mass of exactly 1kg.
But it is drifting out of alignment with the copycat cylinders with which it was forged in London in the 1880s.
The drift of 50 parts in a billion, less than the mass of a grain of sugar, was first noted three decades ago and has continued.
But the difference can cause havoc for scientists who require precise definitions.

This Ottoman/Armenian genocide resolution (championed by Nancy Pelosi) proves (once again) that the democrats are traitors to the US. If we look at the situation, it becomes pretty clear...
1) The killings took place about 100 years ago.
2) The killings were done by the ottoman empire (not by Turkey).
If it is SO IMPORTANT for this matter to be made part of our public record, WHY HASN'T THE DEMOCRATS DONE THIS DURING THE PAST 100 YEARS OR SO!?!?!
The only answer as to why they are pushing this resolution now is that THEY ARE TRYING TO ALIENATE TURKEY! Why alienate Turkey? - because:
1) Turkey has been allowing us a route to supply our troops in Iraq.
2) Turkey has been abstaining from fighting the Kurds in Iraq.
This resolution will piss-off Turkey and they will cut off our supply route which will hurt our efforts in Iraq. Thereby hurting our troops and helping the enemy.
And... there is a very good possibility that if we alienate Turkey, they will start fighting the Kurds in Iraq and cause us more troubles.
There is absolutely no good reason for the democrats to pass a resolution condeming the Ottomans and only negative reasons.
PROOF (yet again) that liberals are stupid, evil or both.

So far, I haven't seen any mention of this on the blogs so let me be the first...
Okay, Nancey Grace is on the TV hyping this story like it's a cute white girl that's gone missing...
They've paraded the pictures of the weapons and she's commmented so far on how dangerous (my wording) they all look.
Let me point out this-
So far here's a listing of the weapons:
- A '9mm assault rifle' (which there were no bullets).
- A handful of EMPTY magazines for the above mentioned 'assault rifle'.
- A homemade 'hand grenade'.
- 30 BB guns.
- A few knives.
- A book on bomb making.
Let me also note that the "9mm Assault Rifle" looks like a plain-ole long-barreled 30cal AK-47 (NOT a 9mm, 30cal is smaller). I may be wrong but, going by the 'gun-knowledge' of your average reporter, I pretty sure that the media is wrong on that point also.
I don't know about you but, I don't think he could have done much damage with a bullet-less rifle, a homemade handgrenade (which probably works as well as most kid made explosive devices), some BB guns and a few knives...
Do I think this kid was trying to do something, YES. Do I think he should be arrested, YES. Hell, he should be locked up for about 50years for this stunt!
I'm just amazed how the dinosaur-media is hyping this story! I await the next round of howls for gun-control. What we need is BRAT-CONTROL!
UPDATE: The mom, Michele Cossey, has been arrested for buying the guns for the brat.

While reviewing your account, we noticed that you are currently displaying Google ads in a manner that is not compliant with our policies. For instance, we found violations of AdSense policies on pages such as thegunblogs.com.
As stated in our program policies, AdSense publishers are not permitted to place Google ads on sites with content related to certain weapons and weapon accessories, such as firearms, balisongs, butterfly knives, and brass knuckles.
As a result, we have disabled ad serving to the site.
The funny thing is that I noticed that where Goggle has problems with sites mentioning guns, they have absolutely no qualms with taking money from advertisers that sell things such as air-guns, "gunshot ringtones", and even GUNS (eBay ad)! (Taken FROM Say Uncle's site)
Not only do they take money from those advertisers, They have no problem advertising sexual items or even prostitution!

How it works is this, when someone is brought to trial on charges, the jury finds him Not Guilty inspite of overwhelming evidence of his violation. Once the person is found not guilty (usually by one vote), he can no longer be tried for the crime.
The benefit of this is that the finding of not guilty can be used in future trials as proof that the law is bad and it will eventually go away.
One thing to note is that many judges do not want juries to know of thier power and will remove jurors whom they suspect may excercise their nullification power.

August 28 Ammo Buy
This is the only post I'm going to make today, and I'll make it brief.
WarOnGuns regulars know about today's proposed ammo buy as a counterprotest to the Pfleger/Jackson Citizen Disarmament Mobfest and Rabble-Rousin' Jamboree.
The rest of today's posts are yours, via comments. Please tell us:
Your name or screen name
What you bought
How much you bought
Where you bought it (name of store or range), including the city
Did the gun store or range help promote the ammo buy, and if so, what did they do?
If you like, you can tell us how much you spent, but that's optional.
Please restrict your comments to that information.
This post will remain up until 12:00 midnight. I'll determine a "winner" via random drawing from all entries. As previously mentioned, the victor will receive a handsome Red's Trading Post cap, courtesy of WoG reader "Sam."
One last thing--I thought about requiring some sort of proof of purchase, but that's the government's MO to consider people suspect right off the bat. We operate on the honor system here at WarOnGuns. When I announce the winner tomorrow, it will be up to them to contact me at dcodrea at hotmail dot com to claim the prize.
Go on over to his blog and let him know what you bought!

The Smallest Minority has a good analysis of this.
Apparently the Brady Anti-gun Nuts are calling for a national protest on the 28th to protest 'illegal gun traffiking' (which we all know they mean any gun sales). So, David came up with this gem:
I'm going to try and start a blog swarm at WarOnGuns to get gun owners to buy a box of ammo on Aug 28--be nice if gun stores would offer some sort of nominal discount or a door prize (no purchase necessary to enter, just to keep things legal) or some such on that day to encourage this--Tuesdays may typically be slow days anyway, so this would get people in their stores and probably work out to their profit.
It'd be nice unintended consequences for the Bradys if we could demonstrate a few percentage points of sales increases on that day because of this.
I'm in! I'll be going over and getting some ammo!

US Treasury secretary Henry Paulson and Chinese president Hu Jintao: China threatens to trigger US dollar crash
Henry Paulson, the US Treasury secretary, met with Chinese president Hu Jintao in Beijing last week
Two Chinese officials at leading Communist Party bodies have given interviews in recent days warning, for the first time, that Beijing may use its $1,330bn (£658bn) of foreign reserves as a political weapon to counter pressure from the US Congress. Shifts in Chinese policy are often announced through key think tanks and academies.
Described as China's "nuclear option" in the state media, such action could trigger a dollar crash at a time when the US currency is breaking down through historic support levels.
It would also cause a spike in US bond yields, hammering the US housing market and perhaps tipping the economy into recession.

He says that's why he's being kicked out of the storefront on South Dixie Highway where he has run Seacoast Water Care for seven years.

I'm not sure I do either.
On July 5 — the day after Independence Day — McKenna received a letter from landlord Ivan Munroe telling him to consider another location.
Munroe said in his letter he wants to have "quality tenants serving the Spanish need in the area."

Apparently the signs for Seacoast Water Care don't fit in. They're in English.

Here's an example:
Emotion is what wins arguments, and there is a tremendous amount of emotion among those fighting to reduce gun violence -- there always is when someone gets hurt or must go through the tragedies that we experience in this country as a result of gun violence.
That is important emotion, and it will do more for the argument for stronger gun laws than any facts or figures ever will.
We have to show legislators the human side of this issue, too, and force them to base their own decisions and policies off of that emotion...

The fact is, tort costs in the U.S. jumped 46% in just the pasts five years. As noted in this space yesterday, a new study by the Pacific Research Institute reports that the total direct and indirect costs of lawsuits are a staggering $865 billion (for context, the U.S. spends only about $108 billion a year fighting the war in Iraq).
You and I pay for these abusive lawsuits through higher consumer costs, higher taxes, lost jobs and stifled innovation. And the trial lawyers? Assholes destroy antique revolver. Pretty much your standard fare for a gun buyback program, actually. If you look at the picture, the "antique" revolver looks like a brass frame (not gold plated) '51 Navy Colt.
To look at the flipside of the coin, suppose for a moment that the revolver wasn't an antique. That means that they were successful in remove a blackpowder, muzzleloading revolver "from the streets". Now, I don't have any statistics handy on use of '51 Colts in crime, but I'm guessing that they haven't been the "gun of choice" for criminals since about 1870 or so. Just guessing, though.
gun buybacks don't actually do anything. The article mentions that each gun was checked by federal authorities to see if it was used in a crime. Do you think that some gangbanger is going to swing on by and drop his Lorcin off into the hands of the waiting fuzz so they can link the gun to him? Of course not. He's going to toss that gun into the river, or give it to one of his friends, etc.

Delegate AlboVirginia motorists convicted of minor traffic violations will face a new, multi-year tax beginning July 1. Led by state Delegate David B. Albo (R-Springfield), lawmakers slipped a driver responsibility tax into a larger transportation funding bill signed by Governor Tim Kaine (D) in April. Albo, a senior partner in the Albo & Oblon, LLP traffic law firm, can expect to see a significant increase in business as motorists seek to protect their wallet from traffic tickets that come with assessments of up to $3000 in addition to an annual point tax that tops out at $700 a year for as long as the points remain.
"The purpose of the civil remedial fees imposed in this section is to generate revenue," the new law states. (Virginia Code 46.2-206.1)
Driving as little as 15 MPH over the limit on an interstate highway now brings six license demerit points, a fine of up to $2500, up to one year in jail, and a new mandatory $1050 tax. The law also imposes an additional annual fee of up to $100 if a prior conviction leaves the motorist with a balance of eight demerit points, plus $75 for each additional point (up to $700 a year). The conviction in this example remains on the record for five years.
Other six-point convictions include "failing to give a proper signal," "passing a school bus" or "driving with an obstructed view." The same $1050 assessment applies, but the conviction remains on the record for eleven years.

Bush have negotiated a grand compromise between those who wanted a massive increase in foreign workers and those who wanted a blanket amnesty for illegal aliens and virtually unlimited family chain migration. Nobody involved represented the American people’s interest in immigration reductions.
The first key vote will be next Monday night.
Senators are admitting privately that the bill will increase the number of greencards (for permanent settlement) by 20 million over the next 13 years. Added to the number that will be given out based on current law, that means 30-35 million greencards in just the next 13 years!
To give you an idea of how radically these Senators want to change our nation and communities, consider that there are around 25 million foreign-born now living in this country who have been given green cards over the last 75 years. That number already has overwhelmed and changed thousands of communities.
But the Senate negotiators and Pres. Bush want to raise that number of greencard holders in our communities from 25 million to 60 million in just the next 13 years!"
CALL CALL CALL your senators NOW!

What he got, instead, was a swift kick from the company's Web site, which not only refused the request but added insult to injury with the admonition, "If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq."Euphoric Reality has a really good, on-going article about this.

For those who are criminals, the border is open.
For those without degrees, the border is open.
For the violent, the dishonest, the unskilled, the destitute, the illiterate … the border is open.

Impacts of S.B. 2611:
1. Dissolves our sovereignty and free choice to protect our nation. If passed, neither federal, state nor local governments can build barriers on our side of the border to protect from illegal entry without permission of Mexico.
2. The Heritage Foundation estimates the bill would increase federal spending by $50 billion annually. That does not include the estimated cost of $100 billion annually for anchor babies.
3. The bill forgives felonies of illegal aliens who have stolen Social Security card numbers and identities of U.S. citizens and allows past illegal work to qualify for Social Security benefits.
4. It allows all illegal aliens to gain citizenship. Once citizens, they may import their parents and relatives into the USA—by the millions.
5. It makes parents of temporary workers who have never paid into Social Security eligible for Supplemental Security Income benefits. It allows them to gain Medicaid benefits after five years. This is a sure fire way to send our Social Security system into quicker bankruptcy.
6. This bill imposes a massive welfare program on U.S. taxpayers given to foreigners who have invaded our country. In other words, if you robbed a bank, but remained inside the building long enough, you not only enjoy forgiveness, you’re allowed to open a withdrawal account while American taxpayers deposit money into your account.
7. This bill represents a massive tax burden on U.S. citizens to pay for food stamps, K-12 education for millions of illegal alien children, SSI payments for millions of foreigners who broke all our rules breaking into our country, subsidized school lunches, rent subsidies, Medicaid, unemployment compensation and other medical care for out-of-wedlock births.
8. This bill adds 67 million new foreigners into the USA over the next 20 years according to Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation. Earlier in the debate, Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama released a report projecting the bill would bring in as many as 217 million over 20 years. That number troubled this brilliant Senate, which led them to reduce the numbers to 67 million. What great foresight by our astute senators! As if we need another 67 million foreigners displacing us from our own country!
9. This bill continues chain migration of extended families. That means that every illegal alien can bring in his entire family. Once that happens, each member of that branch can bring in their family members. It’s a pyramid scheme whereby they can bring in an unlimited number of relatives. It never ends. It’s going on right now with legal immigrants, which is why we’ll add 100 million people, at the minimum, by 2040.
10. This bill presents no mechanism for stopping this invasion. It forgives employers of past lawbreaking and sets up systems whereby illegal immigration can continue at 700,000 to 900,000 illegal annually.
11. If you think these “guest workers” will ever go back home, I’d like to sell you a fruit stand at the Arctic Circle, Alaska. If you think this bill secures our borders, I’d like to sell you fig tree at the North Pole that you can sit under to keep from getting too much sun.
12. This bill codifies prevailing wage provision for guest workers, but neglects American workers. It forces businesses to pay inflated to guest workers that would exceed wages to American citizens.
13. S.B. 2611 allows in-state college tuition, which is denied to U.S. citizens in 49 states, to all illegals and gives them first dibs on financial assistance.
14. S.B. 2611 stops police from arresting aliens for criminal violations of immigration laws. Just like happened with Mohammed Atta, when he was arrested for a traffic stop weeks before 9/11, he got off, and with this bill, any of his fellow terrorists will be set free.
15. This bill stops the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service agency from sharing information about guest-worker applicants with other agencies. In other words, criminals can be set free after being rejected for the guest-worker program.
According to La Vista police, Officer Brian Stolley was on patrol near the 7400 block of South 66th Street when he watched a white 1999 Lincoln Navigator attempt to make a traffic stop on another vehicle using flashing strobe lights on the front grill of his vehicle. The officer initially believed the Navigator may have been an unmarked police car that was attempting to make a stop. The officer turned his vehicle around to help what he thought was a colleague, and in doing so talked to the Navigator's driver.
Officers located wiring from the strobe lights in the grill that led to a toggle switch in the vehicle.
Olivarres-Castro was transported and booked at the Sarpy County Jail.Police said they're not sure Olivarres-Castro is a U.S. citizen. They said he showed a Mexican consulate card, not a driver's licenses.
Eight Marines have been charged with crimes in Haditha. The American media, politicians, and military lawyers are all demanding convictions to "send a message". The media sees these eight Marines as "symbols of a bad war". Politicians see these men as weapons with which to strike the Bush Administration. The military legal establishment sees these men as a means to an end: further authority over men in combat. These Marines are caught in power games outside their control.
THE NAVAL CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION SERVICE IS NOW LEAKING INFORMATION TO THE MEDIA ABOUT EIGHT ACCUSED MARINES-
It's almost impossible to believe. Military lawyers are now joyously destroying men and women who risked their lives to serve their country. JAGs are acting like Durham, North Carolina District Attorney, Mike Nifong. Destroy the accused to build a career. These are perilous times for our nation.
YOU CAN HELP THE YOUNG MEN WHO ARE FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES-
A legal defense fund has been established to assist the Haditha Marines who are being so shamefully railroaded as a result of their combat service in Iraq. A distinguished group of concerned citizens have agreed to serve as board members and will administer the fund. It has been established specifically to provide monies to service members who face criminal charges as a result of their service in combat zones. The name of the fund is the Marine Iraq Legal Defense Fund, Inc. It has been set up as a charitable, non-profit 503(c) corporation. The members of the fund have volunteered to give their time to ensuring our Marines receive the best legal defense available. The board members, most are retired or former service members, include Judge Victor Ramirez, Rickard L. Borg, David Black, Stan Smith, Tom Humphries, and Jack Kelly.
