Oh Look, A Speeding Camera Company Falsifying Evidence To Get a Conviction!

Documents show Redflex may have used a falsely sworn document to convict motorists with speed camera tickets.

Summary- Two Arizona drivers are contesting mobile speed camera tickets. The Austrailian company (Reflex) who operates the camera falsified their evidence in two ways-

The form indicates that the speed camera van operator performed "Tuning fork tests" at the "beginning of deployment" and at the "end of deployment" and that both tests rated a "Pass." Cheryl A Krough, a notary public and employee of Redflex Traffic Systems in Scottsdale, Arizona, notarized the document with a seal indicating the document was "sworn to before me" in Maricopa County, Arizona, also on October 10, 2007.

Problem #1: The radar operator and Cheryl Krough are 1500 miles apart and neither made an actual journey. So Ms. Kroughillegally affirmed the document.

Problem #2: The radar used is not calibrated with Tuning Fork Tests!

More Government For Profit shenanigans!

Kalifornia is at it AGAIN! - Ticket Motorists on Their Own Property

"Meter maids in Escondido, California will soon be ticketing motorists who park on their own property. The city yesterday gave preliminary approval to an ordinance that authorizes both meter maids and police to ticket any vehicle stopped on private property with two wheels touching a surface that is not approved by the city for parking purposes."

"Lawn parking became an issue after the city council announced its intention to ban overnight parking on city streets, leaving some motorists with no place to leave their automobile. The move could generate as much as $200,000 in parking tickets in addition to revenue from parking permits."

"...the city can immediately collect $40 from "around the clock" ticketing efforts."

"The ordinance also makes a third violation a misdemeanor crime"

Hey Virginia, Scumbag Albo is at it AGAIN!

This is a TRAFFIC LAWYER scumbag who somehow got elected to the Virginia Legislature. Now that he's there, he's been busy writing traffic laws designed to bring himself more business.

WHAT A SCUM BAG!

"Remember the traffic lawyer/legislator who introduced a law imposing a $1050 'abuser fee' on people who drive more than 10 over? He’s at it again."

8 Questions About Traffic Tickets That Politicians Never Answer

The police and the courts should be funded from general tax revenue, not from the proceeds of exploited citizens.

Why is it that those in power aren’t asking questions like these:

1. How can the courts be viewed as fair and unbiased when much of their operating income is generated from the fines paid by traffic ticket defendants, isn’t there a fairly obvious conflict of interest here?
2. Where’s the ethical justification for the police to issue hundreds or thousands of tickets to motorists who are driving safely and rationally, but in excess of an arguably dangerous and illegal speed limit?
3. What moral objective is being served by charging ticket recipients more money to prevent “points” being applied to their driving record?
4. What is the logic behind fining a driver $300 for running a red light when a police officer issues a ticket, but only $75 when a camera generates the ticket — is the driver getting a break because it’s a lot cheaper for the camera to take a picture then for the cop to write the ticket?
5. Are we really building a better society by heaping fine upon fine and then suspending licenses because the fines aren’t paid?
6. Does it improve the system’s chances of collecting its fines by taking away the defendants ability to find and hold a job?
7. What police officer wants to be thought of as a bagman for the local government, or have his job dictated by how much money he can raise from motorists?
8. What honest judge wants to work in a court system financially dependent on finding defendants guilty?

The classic image of government-endorsed corruption is the “highwayman” with badge and gun extracting money from a compromised traveler with no hope or relief in sight. In the past these scenes were depicted in the wastelands of Mexico, or in the old “Iron Curtain” countries before the Berlin Wall met its deserved end.

How A Red Light Camera Ticket Can Damage Your Credit Without You Knowing It

Bob needed a score of 700 or higher to get the loan, and had it until ACS, a Dallas based company reported an unpaid collection of $100. “My initial reaction was, ‘What could it be?’” asked Bob. “Who is ACS? I don’t have a single dollar owed to a credit card,” he continued. ACS, Affiliated Computer Services, is the private company the City of Dallas hired to run its red light camera program.

As it turns out, several of the cars used by Bob’s company were in his name. Someone driving one of them got a red light ticket in the spring. He didn’t know about the ticket until the collection showed up on his credit report. He still doesn’t know who was behind the wheel. “Was it an employee that had a ticket in the car that thought they could pay it and didn’t want to tell me about it? I don’t know,” said Bob.

According to Fox 4 News, in the first 11 months of Dallas’s red light camera program, ACS and the city reported 11,073 unpaid citations to credit bureaus.

Buy Cigarettes In A Neighboring State, Become A Felon (And Lose Your Rights)!

"The Tennessee Department of Revenue said Friday that it will begin conducting surveillance of state-line tobacco retailers in other states, looking for Tennesseans who are buying cigarettes there to avoid taxes.

Tennessee residents may legally possess no more than two cartons of cigarettes without the state tax stamp."

"Possession of more than two cartons but less than 25 cartons is a misdemeanor. Possession of more than 25 cartons of untaxed cigarettes is a Class E felony.

Contraband cigarettes, and any vehicle in which they are transported, are subject to seizure, Farr said."

I'm glad they don't do this with brunswick stew. I buy cases of that stuff when I go home...

Colorado sheriff creates roadblock so private firm can demand DNA blood samples

Politech has an artice that will piss you off!

"The Gilpin County Sheriff's Office in Colorado, a rural area not that
far west of Denver, recently set up a highway checkpoint where motorists
were stopped and, at least in some cases, not allowed to leave until
they gave breath, blood, and saliva samples for the benefit of a private
research firm. A report by Ernie Hancock says the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration was involved as well."

Red Light Camera Corruption, AGAIN!

“My truck crossed the stop line when the light turned red. He (the hearing officer) told me that the stop line is a lateral line parallel to the curb, which is 10 feet farther out (than) where it actually starts,” Hillis says.

For red light cameras, the violation line is an imaginary one – so imaginary that it's missing from the Texas driver's handbook.

Use Biodiesel, Get Busted For Tax Evasion.

Bob Teixeira, a Charlotte guitar teacher, took a stand against U.S. dependence on foreign oil last fall and spent $1,200 to convert his 1981 diesel Mercedes to run on vegetable oil. He buys soybean oil in 5-gallon jugs at Costco, which costs him about a third more than diesel.

Despite his good intentions, the state fined Teixeira $1,000 for not paying motor fuel taxes. North Carolina officials also told him that to legally use veggie oil here he'd have to first post a $2,500 bond.

Such penalties have also been levied against other North Carolina drivers whose vehicles were powered by alternative fuels.
