BRIBERY NOW LEGAL IN TEXAS!

"A Texas official who receives any sum of cash as a gift can satisfy state disclosure laws by reporting the money simply as "currency" without specifying the amount, the Texas Ethics Commission reiterated Monday.

The 5-3 decision outraged watchdog groups and some officials who accused the commission of failing to enforce state campaign finance laws.

'What the Ethics Commission has done is legalize bribery in the state of Texas. We call on the commission to resign en masse,'..."

SUPPORT US AIRWAYS!!!

US Airways found the behavior of six muslims odd enough to have them removed from the flight (justifiably in my opinion). Now those muslims are calling for a US Airways boycott. I, for one, am supporting US Airways in their courageous decision and not bowing to PC insanity!

'Bush doesn't think America should be an actual place'

PALM BEACH, Fla. – President Bush believes America should be more of an idea than an actual place, a Republican congressman told WND in an exclusive interview.

"People have to understand what we're talking about here. The president of the United States is an internationalist," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. "He is going to do what he can to create a place where the idea of America is just that – it's an idea. It's not an actual place defined by borders. I mean this is where this guy is really going."

Memo to young black men: Please grow up

Last week, I was in a studio in midtown where a popular program for black youths was being filmed. I found myself surrounded by black men, ages 18 to 35, and I was appalled.

As a father with a daughter nearly 30 years old who has never been close to marrying anyone, I was once more struck by what my offspring describes as "a lack of suitable men." She has complained often about the adolescent tendencies of young black men, as will just about any young black woman when the subject comes up.

Those who believe that America is perpetually adolescent will point at the dominance of frat-boy attitudes among successful white men and will say of the black hip-hop generation, "So what? How could they not be adolescent? They are not surrounded by examples of celebrated maturity. The society worships movie stars, wealthy athletes and talk show hosts. These are not the wisest and most mature of people."

The US Senate Prepares to push for AMNESTY for illegal aliens AGAIN!

WASHINGTON, DC (AgapePress) -- The new U.S. Senate minority leader is optimistic his party can work together with Democrats on major issues facing the nation. However, other Republicans in the Legislature have doubts about whether the GOP will be able to find common ground with Democrats as extreme leftist liberals take the reins of leadership in Congress.

Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell was chosen unanimously by his colleagues in the Senate Republican Conference to be their minority leader in Congress. He says he will seek bipartisan progress together with the Democrats rather than work to obstruct their agenda.

"We had an extraordinarily productive first session of this current Congress," McConnell notes. "It slowed down considerably in the last six months because the minority does have the ability to block and blame," he says.

The new Senate minority leader says he does not blame the Democrats for this since the GOP has done the same thing "from time to time as we were in the minority." But now that the election is over, he adds, "the American people have a right to expect us to put that behind us and grapple with some of the serious issues that are confronting us."

An example of something that is "ripe for bipartisan accomplishment," McConnell notes, is the immigration bill. And two other issues, he contends, need to be at the top of Congress's list of priorities.

Pendleton 8 - Marine Corps Buys Testimony and Withholds Pay

"Shocking updates in the Pendleton 8 case are breaking tonight. If this doesn’t show you the desperation in the government’s case, and the lengths they are willing to go to in order to break these men, I don’t know what will.

First of all, PFC John Jodka will be receiving a general discharge…under honorable conditions. The caveat is that he has to testify at each of the courts-martial scheduled for early next year. In other words, “If you testify against the four remaining men, we will give you a general discharge under honorable conditions.”

In related news, SGT Larry Hutchins, CPL Trent Thomas, and CPL Marshall Magincalda’s pay has stopped, and this has been confirmed by sources at Pendleton. Since all three men would have been out of the military by now had they not been charged in this case, the Marine Corps has decided to invoke a provision that allows them to get away with not paying any of the men a penny.

Two of them have a wife and little girl. All of them have astronomical defense bills, and that’s not counting their basic needs in the brig like soap and toothpaste. What, exactly, does the Marine Corps expect these men to do?"

Atheism, not religion, is the real force behind the mass murders of history

An exerpt:
"It is strange to witness the passion with which some secular figures rail against the misdeeds of the Crusaders and Inquisitors more than 500 years ago. The number sentenced to death by the Spanish Inquisition appears to be about 10,000. Some historians contend that an additional 100,000 died in jail due to malnutrition or illness.

These figures are tragic, and of course population levels were much lower at the time. But even so, they are minuscule compared with the death tolls produced by the atheist despotisms of the 20th century. In the name of creating their version of a religion-free utopia, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Zedong produced the kind of mass slaughter that no Inquisitor could possibly match. Collectively these atheist tyrants murdered more than 100 million people."

Philanthropy Expert: Conservatives Are More Generous

"Syracuse University professor Arthur C. Brooks is about to become the darling of the religious right in America -- and it's making him nervous.

The child of academics, raised in a liberal household and educated in the liberal arts, Brooks has written a book that concludes religious conservatives donate far more money than secular liberals to all sorts of charitable activities, irrespective of income.

In the book, he cites extensive data analysis to demonstrate that values advocated by conservatives -- from church attendance and two-parent families to the Protestant work ethic and a distaste for government-funded social services -- make conservatives more generous than liberals."

Not Guilty. Go Directly to Jail.

"Most people are still under the quaint assumption that you can't be punished for a crime for which you've been acquitted.

Not true. In cases where a defendant is convicted of some of the charges against him but acquitted of others, the state can pursue a sentence that includes punishment for the acquitted charges.

Yes. You read that correctly. A recent decision from a U.S. district court in Virginia is unusually candid in pointing out the absurdity of the practice, which is apparently pretty common:"

Democrats to fix honestly fix immigration???

Donald A. Collins write on his VDARE blog:

"Hope the first thrust of the Democrats in the House will not be to send a clone of the Senate’s S.2611, a “comprehensive reform” travesty calling for huge legalization of millions of illegal aliens already here and millions more to come, over for a House Senate conference and hence to a waiting Bush signature. If they do, I predict our tenure in power will be 2 years."

Massachusetts' New Govenor

New MA governor
Posted by David Hardy · 9 November 2006 09:06 AM

The new Mass. governor, Deval Patrick, used to head Justice Dept's Civil Rights Division.

At the Volokh Conspiracy, David Bernstein notes that, in that capacity, he tried to prosecute people who engaged in entirely legal pamphletting and contact with legislators. His theory was that by engaging in freedom of expression and petition, trying to stop building of halfway houses, etc. in their neighborhoods, they were undermining the Fair Housing Act. He compared pamphlets to baseball bats: they “are perfectly legal too. But if you wield one to keep people out of the neighborhood, we are going to use the bat as evidence of your intent to violate the civil rights laws.” (via The Bitch Girls).

I just found out that he's also the one who cleared sniper Lon Horiuchi in the shooting of Vickie Weaver. "Patrick made the recommendation despite a report by a task force assembled by Patrick’s boss, Attorney General Janet Reno, that found numerous problems with the FBI’s handling of the standoff, and called the protocol used by the FBI’s Hostage Rescue unconstitutional under the circumstances."

Sounds as if MA has found its natural choice for governor. The government may suppress freedom of speech if it might hinder its programs, and if it happens to shoot a lady without justification, well, you can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs.

Hola Amnesty!

Amnesty Is Coming!

"A Republican House -- for all its perceived and real ethical and agenda failures -- was without question the last holdout in Washington, D.C., blocking the Senate/President amnesty plan. With Speaker Pelosi and Judiciary Chair Conyers, an amnesty bill in early 2007 seems likely. It will be a difficult fight to keep House Democrats from giving the Senate and the President what they want -- amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens."

ACLU advocates overturn of US Constitution

"With its Human Rights Program, the American Civil Liberties Union is now going even one step further. It is asking non-American institutions to tell us how to conduct our own affairs under international human rights norms that are supposed to supplement the Constitution. Every domestic policy issue becomes fair game for the “international arbiters” selected by the ACLU to apply international “norms” instead of our own duly enacted laws. The ACLU is no longer willing to rely on the strength of America’s own democratic institutions to resolve our problems ourselves within the proven framework of our own Constitution. They want to outsource that task to global governance institutions that are hostile to the national sovereignty and democratic values of our country. In short, the ACLU’s idiot savants have become the useful idiots for those enemies of the United States whose aim is to manipulate the truth and undermine our unique Constitutional system of self-government. Schoolgirl arrested for refusing to study with non-English pupils

The teenager had not been in school the day before due to a hospital appointment and had missed the start of a project, so the teacher allocated her a group to sit with.

"She said I had to sit there with five Asian pupils," said Codie yesterday.

"Only one could speak English, so she had to tell that one what to do so she could explain in their language. Then she sat me with them and said 'Discuss'."

According to Codie, the five - four boys and a girl - then began talking in a language she didn't understand, thought to be Urdu, so she went to speak to the teacher.

Will Amnesty Bill Trump State Immigration Laws?

If the Senate amnesty bill passes, virtually all illegals will quickly migrate to some form of legal status, and ultimately the “path to citizenship” that the President is touting. Which brings us to one of the most damaging possible consequences of a federal amnesty bill -- what happens to the state efforts to control illegal immigration.

Once an illegal is granted legal status, how can state laws against illegals apply? It is clear that these laws will not apply to the 12-20 million who get legal status, or the tens of millions more who will be coming to our nation under the Senate amnesty plan.

His research shows that the more diverse a community is, the less likely its inhabitants are to trust anyone – from their next-door neighbour to the mayor.

    Personal-Injury lawyers - parasites!

John Stossel hits the nail on the head again!

Imagine if an evil business routinely deprived us of products that would help us live longer with less pain and more comfort. We'd be outraged, and lawyers would line up to sue. Yet something similar happens today, thanks to lawsuit abuse. Makers of all kinds of products are afraid to sell them to us because one lawsuit could ruin them.

Personal-injury lawyers claim they make America safer, but that's a myth. It's easy to see who benefits from those big damage awards we read about. Less obvious -- but just as real -- are the things we'd all like to have but never will get because of this climate of fear. Here are a few examples.

He goes on with really good examples...

This is somewhat old but, it's too good to pass up....

What prominent muslim figure, who was very critical of his government and responsible for much rioting, got his butt saved by said government via evacuation from war torn Lebanon? Why that would be Ahmed Akkari, the infamous Danish Imam, who was amongst those evacuated from Lebanon this past week.

Akkari, apparently vacationing in the very country from which he ostensibly fled, was evacuated along with 5,000 other Danes by the Danish government via the same embassy that was torched by rioting muslims protesting the prophet Mohammed cartoons earlier in the year.

Akkari, pictured above, is seen scurrying up a ramp past the Danish flag as he boards the evacuating vessel.

    Speaking of copyright infringement....

This will be a busy week in the House -- Congress goes into summer recess Friday, but not before considering the Section 115 Reform Act of 2006 (SIRA). Never heard of SIRA? That’s the way Big Copyright and their lackey’s want it, and it's bad news for you.

SIRA fundamentally redefines copyright and fair use in the digital world. It would require all incidental copies of music to be licensed separately from the originating copy. Even copies of songs that are cached in your computer's memory or buffered over a network would need yet another license. Once again, Big Copyright is looking for a way to double-dip into your wallet, extracting payment for the same content at multiple levels.

Illegals are immune to arrest but not you if you copy CDs...

When you ask "Why don't police arrest illegals for being in the country illegally?" you will get the answer that even though they are breaking federal law, immigration enforcement is not in thier jurisdiction but apparently, copyright infringement is in their jurisdiction.

Police officers in Danville, Virginia stopped a car for an equipment violation (e.g. tail light out) and noticed 'home-made' CDs. They used the pretense of music piracy to search the car.

Officer Goins stopped a car because he noticed an equipment violation. As Officer Goins exited his vehicle, McLaughlin, the driver and sole occupant, leaned toward the passenger seat. When McLaughlin told Officer Goins he had a firearm, Officer Goins observed a semi-automatic pistol on the passenger seat and several compact disks (CDs) in the car. Officer Goins suspected the CDs were "pirated," because they were in a "poor quality made CD case with the labeling." He requested assistance from two other officers that had received training concerning CDs. Minutes later, Officers Barker and Perkins arrived. Officer Barker testified that he saw CDs on the front passenger seat and on the floorboard of the car. He testified that "based on [his] training with the recording industry the thin cases and the homemade labels in the cases led [him] to believe they were bogus CDs." He explained: They were thin case CD's and the labels on them were real blurry. You couldn't really make out the reading on them that well. You could just look at them and tell that they were bogus. Concluding that the CDs were illegitimate, the officers seized the CDs they saw and searched the car for others.

The problem with this is that copyright infringement is NOT ILLEGAL! It's a civil infringement!

So apparently, local police CAN NOT enforce immigration LAWS (where a crime is committed) but CAN enforce copyright ordinances (where a crime has NOT been committed)!

Chemistry sets are on the virge of extinction...

    So much for our freedoms...

The first startling thing Joy White saw out of her bedroom window was a man running toward her door with an M16. White’s husband, a physicist named Bob Lazar, was already outside, awakened by their barking dogs. Suddenly police officers and men in camouflage swarmed up the path, hoisting a battering ram. “Come out with your hands up immediately, Miss White!” one of them yelled through a megaphone, while another handcuffed the physicist in his underwear. Recalling that June morning in 2003, Lazar says, “If they were expecting to find Osama bin Laden, they brought along enough guys.”

The search was initiated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, a federal agency best known for instigating recalls of faulty cribs and fire-prone space heaters. The CPSC’s concern with United Nuclear was not the uranium, the magnets, or the backyard accelerator. It was the chemicals – specifically sulfur, potassium perchlorate, and powdered aluminum, all of which can be used to make illegal fireworks. The agency suspected that Lazar and White were selling what amounted to kits for making M-80s, cherry bombs, and other prohibited items; such kits are banned by the CPSC under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act.

23 Republicans sold us out with no abstained votes verses 32 republican who voted in the interest of us citzens. Therefore only 41% of the republicans sold us out.

    Illinois screwing Americans FOR illegals!

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) has used his executive powers to create a state-backed low-interest mortgage loan program for illegal aliens!

Illegals get lower than market rate mortgages subsidized by the American taxpayer!

The program is called "Opportunity I-Loans" and should be a wake-up call for the citizen of Illinois to do a government house-cleaning in the next few elections!

Some people are more equal than others...

Thomas Sowell hit's another home run with his Bordering on fraud series of articles.

Today he points out how Americans are royally screwed by illegal amnesty:

Some people are worried that amnesty will give illegal aliens the same rights that American citizens have. In reality, it will give the illegals more rights than the average American citizen.

Since most of the illegals are Mexican, that makes them a minority. Under affirmative action, combined with amnesty, they would have preferences in jobs and other benefits.

Those who set up their own businesses would be entitled to preferences in getting government contracts. Their children would be able to get into college ahead of the children of American citizens with better academic qualifications.

    Other comparisons:

COLLEGE COSTS: Illegals who graduate from a high school in California can already attend the University of California, paying lower tuition that an American citizen from neighboring Oregon.

BACK TAXES: Under the supposedly "tough" immigration bill in the U.S. Senate, illegals don't have to pay all the back taxes they owe. An American citizen gets no such break from the government and can end up in federal prison, like Al Capone.

TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS: If an American citizen gets stopped by the police for a traffic violation and the cops discover that he is wanted for some other violation of the law, they can arrest him for whatever else he has done. But if an illegal alien gets stopped for going through a red light and the police discovers that he is in the country illegally, in many communities the cop is forbidden to arrest him for that -- or even to report him to the feds.

DOCUMENT FORGERY: If an American citizen forges a Social Security card in order to get a job, he can be arrested. Under a provision recently passed by the Senate, illegal aliens who forged Social Security cards not only get a pass, they get to collect Social Security benefits.

Let's try NOT to catch the criminals...

Three attackers use pit bull to rob man
    From NBC12 News
Richmond police are looking for three attackers they say used a dog to rob a man.

It happened in broad daylight in the alley between 32nd and 33rd streets. Authorities say three men came up to the 34-year-old victim Friday, armed with nothing but a snarling pit bull.

The victim tried to run away but was quickly corned in the alley and then allegedly kicked and beaten in the face.

"A woman heard this commotion and someone yelling ‘get them off me, get them off me,’ and she approached and the suspects took off," said Kirsten Nelson with Richmond Police.

The thieves got away with cash and a few belongings. A witness describes the dog as a light brown pit bull.

Anyone with information, please call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 780-1000.

Do you notice anything odd about this article??? Hint: they sure have a description of the dog.... But it's not PC to give a description of the three criminals!

The Republicans are screwing us again!

Large telecoms are trying to shaft us by making us pay extra money for internet connections we already have paid for based on traffic. They want to sell the fastest connection to the highest bidders.

The idea of Net Neutrality is to keep the internet freely open to anyone and prevent the telecoms from screwing us further. Too bad that the Republicans have just defeated an admendment in the House that would help keep the internet neutral and open to everyone.

Companies face RICO lawsuits on illegals

    GOOD NEWS!!!

In legal cases with potential repercussions for businesses and employees, current and former workers are accusing U.S. companies of violating immigration law and driving down wages.

The federal lawsuits — against carpet maker Mohawk Industries, Tyson Foods, retailer Wal-Mart, and others — are winding their way through appeals courts. The Mohawk case will be argued today before the U.S. Supreme Court.

The class-action lawsuits were filed by plaintiffs under the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) statute, typically used against organized crime.

Under RICO, if a business engages in an enterprise of racketeering activity, it could be found liable for triple damages and attorneys' fees and face criminal prosecution.

    Jobs Americans won't do!?!

An employment service in Mobile, Ala., recently received an "urgent request" to fill 270 job openings from contractors who were hired to rebuild and clear areas of Alabama devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The agency immediately sent 70 laborers and construction workers to three job sites.

After two weeks on the job, the men were fired by employers who told them "the Mexicans had arrived" and were willing to work for lower wages. The U.S. citizens had been promised $10 an hour, but the employers preferred Mexicans who would work for less. Employment agency manager Linda Swope told The Washington Times: "When they told the guys they would not be needed, they actually cried ... and we cried with them. This is a shame."

The two top Republicans in Congress, confronted with internal party divisions as well as large public demonstrations, said Tuesday they intend to pass immigration legislation that does not subject illegal immigrants to prosecution as felons.

A written statement by House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, did not say whether they would seek legislation subjecting illegal immigrants to misdemeanor prosecution or possibly a civil penalty such as a fine.

Members of Students Against War, who organized the counter-recruiting protest, loudly chanted "Don't come back. Don't come back" as the recruiters left the hilltop campus, escorted by several university police officers.

Illegals to get rewards for breaking the law!

Senate leaders on Thursday announced a bipartisan compromise on an overhaul of U.S. immigration laws, giving some illegal immigrants a path to citizenship and creating a temporary worker program.

TRANSLATION: We are giving amnesty again even though it didn't work in the 80s.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, appeared with Reid and said "We have a great opportunity to deliver to the American people what they expect, what they deserve," a comprehensive border security and immigration reform bill.

TRANSLATION: We have again ignored the law, what is best for the country and the will of the people.

The deal, which would include a temporary worker program backed by President George W. Bush, would allow illegal immigrants who have been in the United States more than five years a chance to become citizens if they meet a series of requirements and paid a fine. Other rules would apply to people in the country less than five years.

TRANSLATION: Bush get's his amnesty program, the illegals get their rewards and we are giving the US people lip service because we have 'an icecube's chance in hell' of ever collecting the fines or keeping more illegals out.

"We still have obstacles ahead," said Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican who helped lead the debate.

TRANSLATION: The US citizens are still going to bitch but, we can easily ignore them. We have been elected, they haven't.

The Senate compromise would give illegal immigrants who had been in the United States less than five years but more than two years a chance to obtain a temporary work visa. They would have to leave the country and reapply to come back. Those who had been in the country less than two years would not be legalized.

TRANSLATION: EVERYONE gets amnesty because there are no workable provisions to get rid of the 'less than two years' illegals nor keep new ones out. It's status quo.

    The original Reuters article.

Republicans give big telcos a victory against us little people.

A Republican dominated sub-committee killed an telecommunications law amendment that would prevent the big telcos from giving some internet traffic preferential treatment.

In a 23-8 vote, the subcommittee defeated an amendment proposed by Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) that would have enshrined the principle of network neutrality into US law. Such legislation would have prevented telcos and other ISPs from selectively throttling or passing through IP traffic on their networks. In a statement (QuickTime) read before the committee, Rep. Markey said that the bill as written would "fundamentally alter the Internet" and that it would preventing the FCC from translating its policy against Broadband Internet Transmission Services providers hindering "lawful content" into "something it could effectively enforce."

'Our Federal Wallet Stretched To Limit By Illegal Aliens Getting Welfare'

    From DrudgeReport:

FLASHBACK: Dem Senate Leader Harry Reid: 'Our Federal Wallet Stretched To Limit By Illegal Aliens Getting Welfare'

'Even worse, Americans have seen heinous crimes committed by individuals who are here illegally'

    August 5, 1993

The Office of Sen. Harry Reid issued the following:

Currently, an alien living illegally in the United States often pays no taxes but receives unemployment, welfare, free medical care and other federal benefits. Recent terrorist acts, including the World Trade Center bombing, have underscored the need to keep violent criminals out of the country.

"We are a country founded upon fairness and justice," Reid said. "An individual in real threat of torture or long-term incarceration because of his or her political beliefs can still seek asylum. But this bill closes the door to those who want to abuse America's inherent generosity and legal system."

"Our borders have overflowed with illegal immigrants placing tremendous burdens on our criminal justice system, schools and social programs," Reid said. "The Immigration and Naturalization Service needs the ability to step up enforcement.

"Our federal wallet is stretched to the limit by illegal aliens getting welfare, food stamps, medical care and other benefits often without paying any taxes.

"Safeguards like welfare and free medical care are in place to boost Americans in need of short-term assistance. These programs were not meant to entice freeloaders and scam artists from around the world. "Even worse, Americans have seen heinous crimes committed by individuals who are here illegally," Reid said.

McCain immigration views upsets Union members

It seems that McCain's solution to illegals upset some union workers mainly due to the fact that his 'solution' isn't a solution.

McCain's proposal is to give the illegals amnesty (despite his claims, it's still amnesty). The laughable highlight of his plan requires every illegal to pay a $2000 fine! On one hand you have the government claiming that they can't keep track of all the illegals to round them up but then they are sure they can keep track of them enough to get $2000 from each! This plan could ONLY come from Washington (or California).

Here's the article about the pissed off Union workers.

In the interview, which has been viewed on the Internet more than a million times and has reached the e-mail of hundreds of thousands around the world, Dr. Sultan bitterly criticized the Muslim clerics, holy warriors and political leaders who she believes have distorted the teachings of Muhammad and the Koran for 14 centuries.

She said the world's Muslims, whom she compares unfavorably with the Jews, have descended into a vortex of self-pity and violence.

    Teddy Roosevelt on Immigration

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

    A GLIMMER OF HOPE!!!

But Mr. Frist -- who is widely expected to run for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination -- later distanced himself from the bill finished this week by the Senate Judiciary Committee. That proposal would fine illegals but let them remain in the U.S. while they apply for full citizenship.
That bill "goes too far in granting illegal immigrants with what most Americans will see as amnesty," he said on the Senate floor. "I disagree with this approach not just as a matter of principle but because granting amnesty now will only encourage future and further disrespect for the law. It will undermine our efforts to secure our homeland."

    Frist retreats from 'amnesty'

Cut taxes and take in more money!?!? Wha???

    Herman Cain explains...

Every good liberal will tell you that low tax rates cause tax revenues to drop, hurt the economy, benefit only the wealthy and cause skyrocketing budget deficits. A Wall Street Journal article last week blew a hole in those liberal lies. The Journal reported that federal tax revenues for the first five months of fiscal year 2006 are up 10.3 percent from the same period a year ago. The 2006 revenue growth adds to a 15 percent tax revenue increase from 2004 to 2005. This good fortune for U.S. Treasury coffers is attributed to the steady and growing economy, which is largely a product of the 2003 cuts in income, dividend and capital gains tax rates.

The parallel growth in the economy and tax revenues is not a fluke and did not occur by chance. History has shown us that every time tax rates are cut, federal tax revenues rise, the economy responds positively and the wealthy pay a larger share of the tax bill.

Myths and lies of illegal immigration

    It can't be said enough...

Because the pro-illegal alien lobby has a bottomless pit of money and can hire PR people to spin (and fabricate) anything any way, there are an undue number of myths and lies that the public (and many politicians) has bought into. The FACTS are:

    1. It is NOT racist to call these people "illegal aliens" In fact, "illegal aliens" is the only term used in federal laws and regulations to describe criminals (and they ARE criminals) who come into our country illegally. They are not illegal immigrants, not undocumented immigrants, not migrant workers, and not day laborers - they're ILLEGAL ALIENS.

    2. Mexico is NOT a poor country. It has the fifth richest economy in the world, and by sending its teeming masses to our country, that status keeps on rising. Mexico has more resources per square mile than the U.S. and plenty of money to take care of its own people. Why should the taxpayers of this country subsidize Mexico's corruption?

    3. Illegal aliens are NOT necessarily coming here to work. Lou Dobbs recently reported that 33 percent of our prison population is now comprised of non-citizens. Plus, 36 to 42 percent of illegal aliens are on welfare. So, for a good proportion of these people, the American dream is crime and welfare, not coming here to work.

    4. Illegal aliens are NOT doing work Americans won't do. What jobs won't Americans do? In most states, Americans still clean their own houses, do their own landscaping, clean hotel rooms, work in restaurants and fast food places, paint houses, DO CONSTRUCTION WORK, work in airports, etc. - just like we have the past 200 years before "our" government allowed these people to invade our country. There are 18 million Americans who cannot find a job, so illegal aliens who are coming here to work do so at peril to American workers.

    5. Illegal aliens absolutely do not contribute more than they cost. Certainly the millions in prison and on welfare aren't contributing a dime to our economy, and the ones who are working often are paid in cash with no deductions for taxes at all. The ones who use fraudulent social security numbers and qualify to pay taxes and social security have so many deductions for dependents that they pay little if any taxes. We have seen them pay less than $100 in taxes and get back $4,000 refunds (thanks to earned income tax credits and multiple dependents). The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the average Mexican illegal alien costs U.S. taxpayers a whopping $55,000 each. Some bargain, eh?

    6. The economy does NOT depend on illegal aliens. Sure, greedy CEOs (making $50 to $150 MILLION a year) and business owners depend on illegal aliens, but due to #3, #4 and #5 above, the only thing illegal aliens are contributing to is the collapse of our economy and making the rich richer.

    7. Without illegal aliens, the price of agricultural products and other goods and services will NOT soar. The definitive study on this subject is the University of Iowa's "How Much Is That Tomato?" The study concludes that 'since labor is such a small component of the end-price of agricultural products (which includes price to the growers, transportation costs, processing /storage costs, grocers' profit, etc.), using minimum wage workers instead of illegal aliens would increase prices of agricultural products by approximately 3 percent in the summer and 4 percent in the winter ... hardly the making of $10 heads of lettuce, $25 hamburgers, $1,000 per night Days Inn hotel rooms like the pro-illegal alien lobby claims.

    8. Consumers are NOT benefiting from lower labor costs. Again, it's CEOs and business owners who benefit from taxpayer subsidies for their illegal alien workers. The Big Three automakers say they moved so many jobs to Mexico because their labor costs are 80 percent less than in America. Anybody notice the price of new cars spiraling downward under NAFTA?

So, before you believe the prevalent pack of lies perpetuated by the illegal alien lobby, which makes billions off this government-sanctioned criminal activity, ask yourself who's saying this garbage and look at what they have to gain. Citizens Against Illegal Immigration, just like Protect Arizona NOW, is an all-volunteer, totally grass-roots organization of citizens who are making nothing and have nothing personal to gain from their efforts to fight this corruption. Whose side are you on, and what are YOU doing to save your state and country from this evil?

The heightened concern comes as U.S. tuberculosis cases fell to 14,093 in 2005 from 14,516 in 2004, the CDC said. The rate of infection, 4.8 cases per 100,000 people, was the lowest since reporting began in 1953.

However, the TB rate in foreign-born people in the United States was 8.7 times that of U.S. natives, the CDC said. Most of the foreign-born cases in 2005 involved people from Mexico, the Philippines, Vietnam, India and China.

The Perverse Consequences of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act

The result has been a legal regime that reduces options and competition in how consumers enjoy media and entertainment. Today, the copyright industry is exerting increasing control over playback devices, cable media offerings, and even Internet streaming. Some firms have used the DMCA to thwart competition by preventing research and reverse engineering. Others have brought the weight of criminal sanctions to bear against critics, competitors, and researchers.

The DMCA is anti-competitive. It gives copyright holders—and the technology companies that distribute their content—the legal power to create closed technology platforms and exclude competitors from interoperating with them. Worst of all, DRM technologies are clumsy and ineffective; they inconvenience legitimate users but do little to stop pirates.
