10 Year old boy arrested for toy gun (with orange cap) at school.
“It was a toy,” Gilbert said. “A toy.”
Her son had it in his backpack when he went to Alexandria’s Douglas MacArthur Elementary School on Feb. 4, and he took it out on a bus ride home, placing it in his front pants pocket. He showed one boy, who immediately recognized it was not real, according to his mother.

Dear Metallica, prepare to reap who you have sown...
So far though, almost every comment I have seen to this story is along the lines of:
What hypocrites!! They were just as blind as the record companies and now, with their tail between their legs they come to the internet table looking for a piece of the pie that they originally fought hard against.
Unbelievable!
I for one, would completely boycott these morons!
It seems that their fans will now remember how Metallica cared more for making money than the interest of their fans....
I don't think this will be as you hope Metallica... HA HA!!!

North American Army Has Been Created
The agreement, defined as a Civil Assistance Plan, was not submitted to Congress for approval, nor did Congress pass any law or treaty specifically authorizing this military agreement to combine the operations of the armed forces of the United States and Canada in the event of a wide range of domestic civil disturbances ranging from violent storms, to health epidemics, to civil riots or terrorist attacks.
In Canada, the agreement paving the way for the militaries of the U.S. and Canada to cross each other's borders to fight domestic emergencies was not announced either by the Harper government or the Canadian military, prompting sharp protest.
"It's kind of a trend when it comes to issues of Canada-U.S. relations and contentious issues like military integration," Stuart Trew, a researcher with the Council of Canadians told the Canwest News Service. "We see that this government is reluctant to disclose information to Canadians that is readily available on American and Mexican websites."
The military Civil Assistance Plan can be seen as a further incremental step being taken toward creating a North American armed forces available to be deployed in domestic North American emergency situations.
ALIPAC NOTE: Mexico will be added to the deal soon which would allow Mexican troops to handle American civilians.

When The Money Disappears, So Do The Ticket Cameras
From The Daily World in Aberdeen, Washington on February 16, 2008:
Mayor Bill Simpson will hold off on plans to put red light cameras in Aberdeen intersections in the wake of an initiative Tim Eyman is proposing to reduce traffic congestion.
[…]Eyman has proposed an initiative that could take any revenue the city would receive from the tickets the cameras would generate and put it into a special account to help reduce traffic congestion statewide.
“That’s not really what we were expecting when we got into all of this,” Simpson said.
[…]
Eyman’s initiative aims to reduce congestion by opening up carpool lanes to all vehicles in non-peak hours, requires traffic signals to be synchronized and insists accidents be cleared from roadways quicker.

Open Letter To Atheists....
Dear Athiests,
I am glad that you have found a religious belief that suits you and I am happy in your non-practice of it but, I am sorry to inform you that I am not in the least bit interested in joining your religion nor am I interested in having you explain to me how your beliefs are superior to mine (or anyone else's). Yes, your bumperstickers are colorful and some are quite amusing but, I really don't care [that you feel] that you are morally superior to me or that I'm a complete idiot for not having your beliefs (as stated on your bumperstickers).
Please, in the future, keep your beliefs to yourself and do not try and convert me, I am not interested.
Thank You,
Puck

Briton jailed for four years in Dubai after customs find cannabis weighing less than a grain of sugar UNDER his shoe
Keith Brown, a council youth development officer, was travelling through the United Arab Emirates on his way back to England when he was stopped as he walked through Dubai's main airport.
A search by customs officials uncovered a speck of cannabis weighing just 0.003g - so small it would be invisible to the naked eye and weighing less than a grain of sugar - on the tread of one of his shoes.
Wow.
I've been to Dubai, it's a shit-hole.
3rd Grader Is Gender Confused...
Out of Highland Ranch, Colorado-
The parents of an 8-year-old boy [3rd grader] who wants to live and be treated as a girl have been working with the Douglas County School District to allow their child to attend school as a girl.
The child attended the unnamed school two years ago, and the family and the district have been talking since last fall about the child re-enrolling, said district spokeswoman Whei Wong.
"The discussion has been how best to do it," Wong said Thursday. The goal, she said, is "to ensure the kid feels safe physically and emotionally and other kids don't feel threatened in any way."
Wong said some parents have contacted school officials asking for clarification and direction. "Some parents are really concerned and freaked out about it."
Well, Duh!
Apparently, councillors are being provided to concil the other [normal] kids. Which is TOTALLY backwards.
My guess is that he's doing this for attention.

[Mexican] Kidnappings Of U.S. Citizens On Rise
Last year, at least 26 San Diego County residents were kidnapped and held for ransom in Tijuana, Rosarito Beach or Ensenada, local FBI agents overseeing the cases said yesterday. In 2006, at least 11 county residents had been kidnapped in the three communities.
“Some of the 26 were recovered, some were hurt and some were killed,” said agent Alex Horan, who directs the FBI's violent-crime squad in San Diego.
“It's not a pleasant experience. Victims have reported beatings, torture and there have been rapes. . . . Handcuffs and hoods over the head are common,” he said.
When contrasted to the 40 million border crossings made every year at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, the kidnapping numbers are small. Most of the victims have business interests or family members in Mexico.
But authorities said anyone planning to visit Mexico should be cautious.
My opinion: Fuck Mexico
Thought Police May Be One Step Closer To Reality
It looks like the term “thought police” just might take on a whole new and real meaning. This depends on what happens in the U.S. Senate after receiving House bill H.R. 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007. This act (now S-1959 — Senate version) is now being considered by Senate committees and, if passed by the Senate and signed by the president, will become law. Common sense would indicate that something this vague and dangerous would not make it out of committee, but considering that the House passed it on October 23 with 404 ayes, 6 nays, and 22 present/not voting, I’m not holding my breath.

Stark County (Ohio) Sheriff's Deputies - Poster Boys (& Girls) For Abuse Of Power
Steffey says Stark County sheriff's deputies used excessive force and assaulted her during a strip search 15 months ago, according to a federal lawsuit.
Stark County Sheriff Timothy Swanson denies the allegation.
Steffey's attorney says her clothes, including her underwear and bra, were stripped from her body by at least seven male and female sheriff's deputies and jail workers. She lay face down in handcuffs at the time.
Steffey, 47, was assaulted by a cousin on Oct. 20, 2006, on Weimer Drive SE, prompting a 911 call. A sheriff's deputy arrived and Steffey mistakenly gave the deputy her deceased sister's driver's license, not her own. The deputy refused to hand it back when she noticed the mistake and she pleaded for its return, the lawsuit said.
The deputy did not get medical help for Steffey's assault wounds and instead assaulted Steffey, the lawsuit said. The deputy slammed her into his cruiser, cracking one of her teeth, and later slammed her into the ground, causing cuts and bruises, the lawsuit said.
Later at the jail, Steffey said she was asked, "Have you thought about harming yourself?" She responded, "Now or ever?"
She said she was immediately stripped by male and female guards without ever being asked to voluntarily remove her clothing.

Scientists Discover A Way To Reverse Memory Loss
They were experimenting with deep-brain stimulation in an attempt to curb the appetite of a 30st patient who suffered from a lifelong obesity problem.
Electrodes were pushed into his brain and stimulated with an electric current.
The treatment did not cure his eating problem - but he experienced vivid memories of an event that occurred 30 years earlier.
In the following weeks, and up to a year later, the memory of the 50-year-old patient improved.
